What are the dangers of low blood pressure?
There can be few of us who know that hypotension may
be as dangerous as high blood pressure. But few people are aware that low
blood pressure can cause serious damage to the heart and brain, due to lack
of oxygen. Normal pressure for a healthy individual levels is 120/80 and
when levels dip down, it is considered low. Although there are no established
reference range for hypotension, experts believe that while less than
90/60 should be treated as such as low blood pressure.
Hypotensive person experiences stress and
degeneration of other parts of the body because the blood flowing to the brain
slows down. This condition is followed by dizziness and vomiting, in some
cases. People with low blood pressure may experience palpitations,
blurred vision and some may even experience fainting. Sometimes people may feel
nausea, perhaps weakness and one of the most serious problems associated with low
blood pressure is a shock. In such cases, there may be failure of organs such
as the kidney, lungs, liver and even the brain. This happens primarily due to
lack of oxygen and essential nutrients, which is caused due to poor blood
circulation.
Therefore, if people tend to take the problem of mild hypotension,
it has its share of dangers, and this condition is also immediate attention and
an equally effective treatment. It is in the best interest of people with
complaints of low blood pressure to seek the advice of a health care
professional as soon as possible.
